Across the Central Highland Range, from the Aberdaire range to Mount Kenya, SL34 and SL28 varietals dominate nearly 90% of coffee cultivation, alongside historic varieties like Bourbon and Kent. Newer types like Ruiru 11 and Batian are emerging. The higher altitude and rich soil support coffee, tea, dairy, and corn production. These ranges are part of the Great Rift Valley, which spans from Lebanon to Mozambique, enjoying reliable rainfall for two cropping seasons.
Acacias offers top-quality coffee from what was once the Central Province, renowned for its coffee. Handpicked cherries are delivered promptly to prevent fermentation, sorted, pulped, and processed with river water, then soaked in clean water for 8-16 hours, enhancing clarity and acidity. After sun-drying, cuppers select beans based on size and attributes, ensuring consistency before export.
